Attendance at an orientation is required.  Classes are weekly and held at the Beaumont House in Bethesda unless indicated otherwise.  Please RSVP when indicated.  Comfortable clothing and physician approval recommended.

Gentle Yoga

These classes combine stretching, breathing, and relaxation exercises to help improve muscle tone, aid in stress management, and promote a sense of well-being.

 

Pink Ribbon Pilates
Mondays & Wednesdays, 12:30 - 1:30 p.m.

Ann Hallman (Monday) and Jill Studley (Wednesday), Certified Pilates Instructors, lead this class for breast cancer survivors. Healthy lifestyle and positive body image are part of the experience as participants are challenged to regain strength and mobility.

 
Regain Your Strength Exercise
Mondays, 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.
 
Feeling stronger, but not sure how far to take your exercise routine? Kym Sevilla, CET, E-RYT leads this class of strengthening and stabilization exercises. Learn how to warm up, stretch and center. Participants work out at a personally
appropriate level. Please wear athletic shoes and loose clothing.
 
 
Inner Peace & Healing
Tuesdays, 10 a.m. - 11 a.m.

While living with cancer, inner resources are often depleted.  Join energy healer Afie Lattimer as she provides information, insights, and exercises to increase a sense of inner peace and personal empowerment.

 

Functional Fit & Fun (Landover) starting in July
Wednesdays, 7 – 8 p.m. 

Certified Health Coach, Nichelle Terrell, will teach low impact movements to strengthen muscles. These exercises train muscles to help do everyday activities safely. This class is designed to improve strength, mobility and flexibility using only your body weight.

 

Knitting, Stitch & Chat
Fridays, 10 - 11 a.m.

Kathryn Winsberg, with 42 years  of knitting experience and endless patience, leads this weekly group. In addition to knitting, lovers of all forms of stitch craft and handiwork are welcome to attend. Experience is not required.

 

bi-monthly classes

Guided Mindful Meditation
2nd & 4th & 5th Fridays, 11:30 am -12:30 pm

May Benatar, PhD, LCSW-C leads this weekly group.  Modern science has confirmed that a meditation practice actually changes the brain, strengthens immunity, reduces anxiety, and lowers blood pressure.  Join May and learn the skill that once acquired will benefit you in mind, body and spirit.

 

Relaxation & Tranquility 
1st & 3rd Friday of each month, 11:30 - 12:30 p.m.

Let your body feel relaxation and your mind experience tranquility.  Led by Larry Bricker, M.Ed. & Reiki Master, you will learn techniques to minimize pain, reduce stress and increase feelings of wellness.  

 
Expressive Art
2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month, 1:30 - 3:00 pm

Judy Goldstein leads several activities for participants to use art materials to express themselves. No art experience necessary.

 

Monthly Classes

Book Club
1st Wednesday of each month, 2-3 p.m.

Facilitated by Katy Cooke, this group will read and discuss books recommended by participants. 

 
Hypnosis for Symptom Reduction
1st Thursday of each month, 10:30 - 11:30 a.m.
2nd Thursday of the each month, 10:30 - 11:30 (Landover)

Hypnosis has been shown to decrease pain, anxiety and stress as well as other symptoms related to cancer treatment.  Certified hypnotherapist Don Pelles will teach self-hypnosis techniques that will assist in the management of these symptoms.

 

Relaxation & Tranquility (Landover)
1st Thursday of each month, 10:30 - 11:30 a.m.

Let your body feel relaxation and your mind experience tranquility.  Led by Larry Bricker, M.Ed. & Reiki Master, you will learn techniques to minimize pain, reduce stress and increase feelings of wellness.  

 

Reiki Share
2nd Thursday of each month, 10:30 -11:30 a.m.

Reiki Master Susan Kilborn provides an understanding of the principles of Reiki and techniques for individuals to achieve healing effects through self-treatment.

 

Jewelry-Making, starting in July
3rd Thursday of each month. 10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Make your own beaded bracelet and learn how to make dangle earrings. All beads and tools will be supplied during this class.

 

RESTORE: Movement for Health - starting in July
4th Thursday of each month, 10:30 – 11:30 a.m.

Led by dance instructor Cynthia Word. RESTORE classes are a unique combination of seated breath work with gentle stretching movements, leading to standing balance work and ending with joyous and simple movement
through the studio, all accompanied by beautiful music.
