Our annual Celebration of Hope Gala will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2014 at the Park Hyatt Washington, DC. At this event, we honor an individual and a company that have been extraordinarily supportive of our mission.
This year, we are delighted to present our Celebration of Hope Award to Patricia Payne of Payne & Associates. A founding member of our Board of Directors, Pat has served as our pro bono Legal Counsel since our inception in 2005. She was instrumental in formally establishing our organization, developing our personnel manual, and reviewing contracts, leases and other legal documents.
At this event we will be presenting our Partnership Award to LAZ Parking. LAZ has been a generous sponsor of both the Celebration of Hope Gala and Drive Out cancer since 2008. We are very grateful for their on-going support!

Hope Connections has received a $20,200 one-year grant from Quality Health Foundation (QHF) of Easton, MD to expand its Young Adults with Cancer support group from monthly meetings to weekly sessions.
“The issues and concerns of young adults with cancer are unique,” said Hope Connections’ CEO/President Paula Rothenberg. When we started a monthly support group for these young people, there was an immediate demand to meet more frequently, as the medical condition of our participant’s changes rapidly. We are thrilled that Quality Health Foundation is making it possible for us to offer a weekly support group for this population.”
QHF is the mission arm of Quality Health Strategies, a group of companies with more than 40 years of experience in conducting and evaluating health care quality improvement initiatives.
“We are excited to be partners with Hope Connections to facilitate access to health care and improve lives for individuals and communities,” said QHF Board of Directors Chair Brenda Crabbs.
The Young Adults with Cancer support group meets every Tuesday evening from 6:30 – 8 p.m. at Hope Connections. This group, like all Hope Connections’ support groups, is facilitated by a licensed therapist.
